Mark Tewksbury, CAN, Swimmer

Tewksbury thrilled the world with his gold medal performance in the 100m backstroke and established a new world record at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games.  At those games, Tewksbury also won bronze in the 4x100m medley relay.  In the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, Tewksbury brought home the silver in the 4x100m medley relay.  Tewksbury is involved in a number of organizations such as the Special Olympics and in 1993 he founded the Mark Tewksbury Junior Swim Bursary.  In 1994, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal in 1994 by the Governor General of Canada and in 1995 was inducted into the Canadian Hall of Fame.
